What is 26 AS ? How to download the same from income tax website?

Form 26 AS is Annual Statement which have details of Tax credit through TDS/TCS , Tax Payment made through Self Assessment/ Advance Tax Payment , AIR( Annual Information Report) Information, Refund Paid Etc of an Assessee for the Assessment year .

Before filing the returns it better you have to check the 26AS to be sure that the TDS deducted is been reflected in our 26AS. If not we have to ask the employer/Deductor to pay the tax deducted and to file the TDS returns.

Form 26AS can be viewed / downloaded from Income Tax e-filing website once you have logged in.
